Per Inciso
The research for this collection investigated the traditional cameo and coral jewellery production industry processes, to understand whether sustainable approaches might be able to reframe them for a contemporary market place. Re-contextualizing materials both from food and jewellery industry—such as lobster, mussels and shell ‘lips’—PER INCISO reimagines the coral and cameo aesthetic language, offering a vision for change.
The project does not conceal the origins of the shells, but highlights the future possibilities that these up-cycled materials reveal when applied to traditional jewellery techniques.

One Size Fits All : Jack Brindley & Inma Femenía
25 February 2016 - 2 April 2016
Wed - Sat, 12 - 6pm

 Private view: Wednesday 24, 6pm

The RYDER is pleased to present One Size Fits All, an exhibition of new work by artists Jack Brindley and Inma Femenía. Conceived as a dialogue between the two artists’ practices, the exhibition looks at the ways in which industrial modes of production can be perverted, and brings the hidden ideology of the digital sphere into material reality. The two artists draw our attention to how standardised approaches structure and define the world around us – by forcing us to experience this concept in its physicality.
Inma Femenía (b. 1985, Pego, Spain) lives and works in Valencia. She holds a BA in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain, and an MA in Arts Production from UPV. Alongside her artistic practice, she is currently studying for a PhD in Art: production and research at UPV. Recent exhibitions include: Graded Metal, Area 72, Valencia, Spain; Offene Ateliers. Atelierhaus Dachauer, Munich, Germany; Glitch, Lonja del Pescado de Alicante, Spain; CALL 2014, Galería Luis Adelantado, Valencia, Spain; Un---fold. Asme Gallery, Berlin, Germany.

Our way of perceiving the world is determined by the digital, understood area not only as vehicle of transmission of images, but as a language which grammar modifies irremediably the appearance of the forms. Under this point of view I place my artistic practice, penetrating into the digital area, going deeply between his pixels and luminous vibrations.

I resort to technological devices not so much for his breeding tasks of the reality, but because they allow me to show the plastic possibilities of the fingerprint and the character independent from the software.
